Hamira Khan is a PR and Communications Specialist and is one of Scotland’s highest profile Asian females.

Having started her working life as a marketing junior with British Airways, at the age of 24 she created a leading consultancy company, specialising in culturally sensitive campaigns with offices in Glasgow’s City Centre.

She has acted as a mentor for many aspiring entrepreneurs and has also given assistance to local government bodies on how to develop their enterprise culture within the Scottish black and ethnic minority communities.

This earned her a nomination for Young Female of the Year in 2004, as well as being short listed for the Women into Enterprise award by Glasgow City Council.

Hamira was one of twelve national companies invited to participate in the successful trade mission to Pakistan for the formal twinning of Lahore and Glasgow, to boost business, trade and education links between the two cities.

Then, in late 2005, Hamira moved to the Middle East when Dubai became the logical place to do business, and was a natural decision to launch her consultancy services. With her strategic location in a consistently strong economy, in Dubai she targeted markets in Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Asian Subcontinent.

After working with a variety of private and statutory clients, Hamira has recently returned to Glasgow and has been working with local communities on a range of issues, including social cohesion and inspiring, motivating and helping young people to achieve personal success.
Hamira has been active within local communities from her early career days where she was instrumental in the launch of several community initiatives. She influenced the provision of facilities and services for young people and she also set up several accredited training programmes for women returning to work following a career break.

Hamira was educated at Bannerman High School, Baillieston and subsequently attended the University of the West of Scotland, where she completed a BA in Marketing.

Her passion and interest are in social action and she has spoken on issues as varied as the under-representation of women and ethnic minority communities in Politics, talent in diversity to social enterprise.

Hamira lives in the West End of Glasgow, with her husband Ali.
